I know it's been quiet here lately. Fortunately, that doesn't mean I haven't been having fun. Unfortuntately, it doesn't mean I've been having so much fun I haven't had time to write about it. It just means that most of the fun has been the usual routine that's been described here before. Today was about the same, with the exception of one minor loss.

I was congratulating myself for mastering the dexterity required for the one-handed flask swap, passing a flask to someone else while simultaneously accepting one from them with the same hand, as the other hand was occupied with reins and crop.

Crop? What crop? In the middle of the afternoon, I suddenly realized I was no longer carrying the crop I had started with. I've been trying to remember to carry a crop this season, a new accessory for me. Neither of my horses usually need much persuasion to go forward, but there are times when a judicious tap is helpful. But, since I'm not used to carrying one, I didn't immediately notice when I suddenly wasn't carrying it any more. When I finally did notice, I had no idea when or where it had slipped from my grasp, so there wasn't much point in trying to find it.

But, as I said, it could have been worse. I could have dropped something far more important, like a flask. But on the other hand, if I had dropped a flask, I would have noticed that immediately and been able to retrieve it.
